kz750 ltd h2 1981 - petcock problem
06 Feb 2012 18:08
hi kzr's
what a scenario. my project bike is nearly
finished. 2.5 years of sourcing parts from your
lovely country to rebuild a rust kaw (cow!)
out grazing in wet miserable uk!
the tank was connected to inline filter/ carb.
i live in an area where there are no motorcycle
shops. i'd to use a substitute gas pipe that wasn't
the correct size. the old boy in the handy store
that's like an aladdin's cave, advised ' it's the
correct gas pipe'. it was more than a 1/4"...
the petcock was serviced a few months ago.
on connecting it today, it leaked badly from
the diaphragm? it's a common fault with
vacuum petcocks.
i was advised by the vintage japanese motorcycle
club, that the vacuum petcocks are seriously
problematic. they advise change it to
an aftermarket 'non vacuum type'.
could anyone kindly recommend a modern,
problem free aftermarket petcock please?
many thanks
angel

I'd first contact
www.z1enterprises.com
and see what they'd advise. A good but pricey one is made by Pingel:

hi mfolks
i would like to thank you very much
in helping me sort out my uk based kz750!
it's nearly up and running now, we just sprung
a gas leak.
thanks also for the link to the pringle
petcock, sadly is a faulty link?
Q) can the gas pipe connected to the
bottom if the carb, be placed outside of the carb.
frame, to allow more space for the inline filter?
kind regards mfolks, you're a Guru!
