pulled the carbs and cleaned them and now will only start and stay running with choke open all the way - 2nd click- what i do wrong. is there a simple fix. when trying to start there is fuel blowing out the hole above the main air intake hole when compretion hits that cylinder. was riding a few weeks ago and after getting gas she died . had to get towtruck home. I already draing all the gas out both tank and carbs

I mentioned this in you other post but you have to CLEAN the carbs really, really, really good. Get all the passages in the carb bodies. What is happening is since all the small pasages in the carb bodies are all clogged with old gas residue so no gas gets through. When you pull the choke it by passes the clogged circuits allowing it to run then when you take the choke off it will stall. Clean, Clean, Clean, Clean those carbs. I get people all the time who bring me their carbs saying they cleaned them over and over and still cannot them to work. But I find out after taking them apart what they really have done is, took the carbs apart removed the jets, sprayed carb cleaner all over them, clean the jets and put it back together. The carbs look clean but all the internal passages are still clogged.

Did you remove the floats and needles? The float needle seats can be cleaned with brasso and "Q" tips to get a good seat and prevent the gas from overflowing.

Also check the voltage to the coils.

Don't give up. I have had to pull carbs numerous times in one day to get them sorted out. Roy

If this means that compression within the cylinder is blowing back toward or through the carb, it could be caused by failure of the intake valve to completely seal (for whatever reason, such as inadequate clearance, or burnt or otherwise damaged valve or valve seat.)

Would check the valve clearances, and perform a compression test.

Good Fortune! :)

well turns out the petcoc is causing my problems. set it to the pri setting and she fired up and ran great for about a mile or so but would start right up again . went back and forth from pri to the on setting with same results , then set it at reserve and she took off like a rocket, ran like when I first got her, never bogged down or stalled even after 5 miles of some fast hard riding , starts right up now even when totoly cooled off. choke working properley also. so I figure it's either the diaphram in the petcoc or the petcoc has other problems , so I'm going to replace the whole thing. the other part, turns out I didnt have the diaphrams in top of carbs instaled corectley for a proper seal. thanx for every one's help. couldn't do it with out all of your's help B)
