Some carbs have nipples that vent to atmosphere so you should really do your research before winging it. Is the bike fuel injected? you mentioned fuel rails.

Right! It's time to buy the Kawasaki Service Manual. No KZ owner should be without one (or more than 1). Ed

Post a picture of the carbs so we can see what you're talking about. They're probably not fuel lines if the bike runs when you push start it. What is the jetting on your carbs at the moment? Have you tried starting it with the choke on or the air filter/s off? Which kind of petcock do you have? Are you sure you're getting spark with the electric starter? Have you tried kicking it if you have a kicker?

ok lets see if I can remember all the questions, no its not fuel injected the petcock has a line coming from the engine to cause pressure to push the fuel down, on and reserve only flow when engine is running pri free flows. the lines I was talking about come fron a vacume modularot under the tank tward the front. and the boots to conect the carbs to the air box are gone. and there is no kick start . as for winging it. I dont have a choice dont know anyone here that works on bikes and cant realy afford to pay anyone. thanks to washongtons govenor and our $%^&(&^ press.
