I got them loose today and drained the bowls, sprayed out what I could get to. Filled it back up, put some seafoam in the tank, put a new filter on it.
Took it for a few short runs by my house and it got better, but still erratic idle... sometimes after a minute of idle it would hang up around 4-5k, and then sometimes idle down and die... im gonna pull the carbs Sunday and go through them. My brothers gotta pancake compressor I can use... oh well, ill see how much trouble I can get into lol

Here's the ticket for removing carb bowls without taking carbs off the bike. It works great for me.

I really do appreciate the tips guys, I've already learned alot about setting the floats via the clear tube method and a bench synch... I think the guys that went through my heads just didn't do anything with the carbs....
hard to find a good local guy

I had the bowl screw replaced with new ones a while back, so they're pretty easy right now

08 Oct 2011 03:49 - 08 Oct 2011 03:49I've got those too, but my secret weapon for bowl screws is this frankenstein thing I made from a phillips bit stuck in a 1/4" drive socket with a 1/4"-3/8" adapter stuck in the back of the socket all wrapped in tape for finger traction.650ed wrote: Here's the ticket for removing carb bowls without taking carbs off the bike. Damn, ill check them again tommorrow. I sprayed carb cleaner around the boots and manifolds and didn't notice any change in rpms. Then again its hard to keep it running and spray the carbs... maybe I should spray the tops or th bottoms of the carb bodies?

I remember you saying that before, couldn't find a leak. I think Pull the carbs, remove the manifolds. Clean the carbs, then Bench set them up right. Check those manifolds for cracks, separation, or just poor sealing. Get it all back together then retry your adjustments.
Didn't you also verify the throttle cable is not hanging up, and also the Ignition advancer is performing correctly?
