This is for both of you, and everyone else, just because a fuel jet in a used carb has a # stamped on it doesn't always mean the size is as stamped. Jet drills are common place and many people drill jets.
Rebuilding your carbs with new kits that supply float valves and new jets is a good way to restore the original settings. Also be sure the choke plungers seat correctly, and the air bleeds at the air-horn/ rear of carb are clean. Clean those carbs real good.

I live at 4400' and i have never seen more than 130psi on either of my Kz1000's. Motor in one has been recently rebuilt too.

Good point. My "California" bike came with #40 pilots that ran HORRIBLY LEAN. I kept taking it back to the dealer and he kept saying it would be illegal for him to install larger ones. Some years later I took those "40" jets out and made a tool to measure the hole diamter and they had been drilled out to about 47.5. Definitely ran much better, I guess that was "legal". They didn't install larger jets, they just "adjusted" the ones in it to run properly.:laugh:

Yeah, much lower atmospheric pressure up that high.
