It's exactly about mid range punch. The PUNCH you want when you roll that throttle on and the bike comes on the cam. That's exactly where BS34's will rear their ugly teeth where as a good rack of smooth bores will give you a woody..
I'll wager 95% of the members here have never ridden a seriously fast street bike. If they did, this stupid topic would't keep coming up :woohoo:

Larry, That is a complete statement and I can not argue or dispute it. But I will add that out of the 5%rs that ride a very fast sterrt bike, there is only another 5% that know how to toon it that well across the entire power band. I dont think that you can argue with that statement either.

It's nice to see everyone having a good conversation about this. It gets ugly too often. I believe that the bs34's on my bike, combined with some advice from Otto here, will run fine. I might switch to some nice Keihin CR's later if I feel like it, but the BS's will the the job done for now.

Anyone who wants a seriously fast street bike isn't going to waste time on a thirty year old bike if he is indeed serious about speed.

Here is another example of a CV Carb, the SU's, they have an oil damped slide. Think about that, every time the oil changes viscosity, your mixture changes! Had some on a MGB when I bought it, threw them in the trash, put on some Dellorto's instead, Oh and a 13B Rotary!
No thats not in the MGB, just a file pic from Google.

That bike bogged before it revved, I had to wait 5 sec to hear the top notes! My bike doesn't do that. It sounded rough and junky as well, I wouldn't have showed my face in that video either. That dude was drunk or high, his clothing matched the bike perfectly though, I'm thinking he didn't have a license either. :woohoo:

Does it really matter what carb you run? So long as the fuel-air mixture is right through out the rev range and the carbs themselves are not to restrictive.
I cannot see how it matters AT ALL to the cumbuston chamber what style/make/model of carb is feeding it so long as the mixture is right (and stays correct when changing from idle, to low, to mid to WOT, which is a question of tuning so long as the carb in question has no design flaws).
Do the RS carbs have pixie dust in the float bowls that magically help them make more power than BS carbs on the same engine while filling the cylinders with the same fuel air mixture?
Or the BS carbs are flawed in some way and cannot give a clean f/a mixture at all throttle positions?
