It was hard to take a picture of mine because I could not find anything to hold long enough before it collapsed. But here you can see the stubby #2 Philips while it is falling and the scale is still registering 1.66oz. Yes it is the same guy that made the mold for me, but the material is completely different. He started to make them for the Yamaha XS650 that has 76mm diaphragms and the cone is much shallower. This is why they will also work on the XS650. The Neoprene rubbers are only available from me.

you are using the exact pics from his website jbmindustries.com/Yamaha650.html .. so he makes yours a little softer and that is where the extra $50 comes in ?

I am using his pictures because It was easier and I can. It takes a lot longer to de-mold my rubbers because they are hot vulcanized and must be in the mold much longer. It is much more difficult to make them out of the softer material, there fore they cost me more. I could have gotten the others from the other material from him at about half the price. since i originally bought 100 units. I am not twisting your arm to buy mine. you can buy his if you wish for $40 less. Why does one tire from one maker cost $75 and another tire from another maker $1500? What the heck they are both rubber. You can buy $35 Nanking tires for your bike, do you? What the heck they are just rubber like the Dunlops, Avons, Michelines and Perrelies that cost $100-$200. Why do one company charge $1.50/ qt of oil and another company $9 or more. What the hell, it's all just oil, right? Why do one car cost $20k and another $70k? What the heck its just transportation on four wheels, right?

i have wondered about throttle response from jbm industries...sorry for the rant,,, the pics threw me off ..i worked in the rubber molding industry for 17 years,, they were getting in a lot of "flashless" molds when i left.. so do understand what you are saying concerning the process and cure times..

Did you buy a set from JBM? If so, do you see what I mean about the stiffness of his rubbers? Mine are actually softer than OE Mikuni and just as soft as Keihin rubbers.

If the rubber is softer, that should mean quicker throttle response right? Which could help with the mid-range bog you get on the CV carbs when you put a 4-1 and free flowing air filter.

You are absolutely correct. That was also a part of the intention. Besides just a replacement for damaged rubber. as these carbs/diaphragms get older in our carbs they stiffen up and slow response during operation.

I've a Honda CB750 DOHC that I have never managed to get the throttle response dialed in. Part of the issue is the crappy MAC pipe on that bike, but I've felt the bulk of the throttle response issue was related to the rubber diaphragm hardening with age. I treated mine with 303 aerospace protectant and that helped restore a little of the suppleness - but still they refuse to respond the way I would like.

If the rubber is in good shape and has no holes in it I can restore it. Send me the slides and I can take care of it for you. I sent you a PM.

Now I see why you're so fond of those BS34's

Otto.... have you run the diaphragms for any length of time without securing them to the slide?

Reason I ask is because Keihin had a bad time with the early CVK diaphragms twisting up inside the covers. All were covered under warranty with no problem. Also all the new ones were staked in 3 places to prevent twisting..

Just a heads up on an issue that might not be a problem for you but hey....it's worth knowing about...just in case

   Actually, those were thought after the fact of me falling in love with those carbs. I glued my diaphragms in.

Remember how the old diaphragms would swell up from fuel?
Are the new one's prone to that or resistant to it?
