Why don't you go Mikuni 29 smoothbores? George has them occasionally for sale....or perhaps 1977 Mikuni VM26SS? Good throttle response for your cc bike.

The more i read the more i think stickn with the carbs i have is the best idea. they are more than capeable just wish i could buy these diaphrams. does any one know what or where w g gets his or what he does if a bad set comes in ??

On a 700cc bike a set of VM26 from a Kz900 or a KZ1000 would be perfect. They are easy to rebuild, parts are available and you could get them inexpensively on eBay. I always thought that the BS34s were way too big for a 700/750cc engine. I have a set on my 1150 and I find them perfect for a 1000-1100cc engine.

Just so you guys know, there are four distinctly different stiles of slides for the BS34s. To some degree you can use any stile for any application even though some slides are better for one app and some are better for other apps. BUT all four slides MUST be the same. The slide springs are also not all the same and must be matched.

I just want new rubber for the top not the hole slide my slides are working as we speak just know that they are tired.

I just contracted for a mold for new diaphragms. I will have new rubber in a few weeks that will work on all of our BS34s The rubbers will cost about $125 a set estimate. JUST an estimate. I will know more once i hear from the molder.

I would expect to have the molds made by the end of July or so. They will be vulcanized rubber and they will be DIY.

The molds for the new rubbers are officially in production. There is now no turning back baring unforeseen circumstances. I will keep you guys posted here.

Glad to hear this Otto...I have not yet cracked the BS34's on my R1...so I might also need new diaphragms.

The problem That I ran into was that I disassembled three sets of BS34s some time ago and have found that the rubbers have dried out and shrunken over time. They are now too small to use. I found that there is now way to stretch them back out to make them usable. Now I have no choice but to replace the rubbers on three sets of carbs.

got my new carb holders today put them on, night and day diff.
now it idols and is much smoother. cant wait for my new diaphrams !!

as for the r1 diaphrams .
isnt that a newer yamaha?? why would it need diaphrams my carbs have been threw hell lol and they still work but for a bill i can have the piece of mind never to open the tops agen!
