KZ750 Choke doesn't work

Hey there,

New user signing in.

I recently brought a 1980 KZ750 LTD back to life. New head gasket, repainted motor etc etc...

Part of that process involved pulling the carbs and sending them off to Wired George for a rebuild (I think he did a good job). When I got them back the bike ran, but not well. It turns out there was vacuum leak somewhere around the carbs, so I got new vacuum hoses and new boots between the motor and carb. That seems to have solved all the problems, the bike runs Great; except: the choke doesn't work at all (or it just barely works).

You can see the butterfly valves working when you turn the choke on, but it just doesn't seem to have any effect.

Anyone ideas would be most welcome.

Charles

I have the exact same problem on my bike. I have 2 1981 750Ltd's and on one the choke doesn't work past half on the other it works fine. When taken apart they both appear to function the same.

Yeah,

That's exactly my problem. Good to know I'm not all alone out there. Maybe there's a bad seal somewhere?

Hey bro,

I was just going to post the same thing. My bike starts and runs fine without any choke. Awesome.

But, when I open the choke nothing happens until 3/4 of the way up and then the bike dies.

It really does not make sense and I am worried that when he weather changes to the cooler side I am not going to be able to get the bike running again.

I am sure someone is going to get on here and say that the enricher circut is blocked or some garbage like that, but I for the life of me cannot explain that occurance.

I feel your pain.

I figured out why my choke was not working, I was almost out of gas. Perhaps this could be a problem. After filling up and starting the next day, the choke worked as it should have.
