I got an 83 kz1000j3(canada),starts great, idles not bad,but when I rev it up to about 4or5 grand the revs don't want to come down right away or not at all especially when warm or riding it(keeps a guy on his toes, lol),checked the ignition advancer and all is well there, fuel petcock is clean, float bowls have been drained several times(no crap),messed with the pilot air screw to no avail, carbs were done 3 yrs. back but this is a recent problem,is it a matter of being lean? anysuggestions woulb be appreciated, thanks.

The RPM's not dropping is a sign of an air leak. Try removing the carbs again and spraying some WD 40 on the carb mounts and reinstall the carbs again. Make sure the carbs are correctly seated in the rubber mounts before you tighten the clamps. If that doesn't correct the problem then the rubber spigots are cracked and leaking air.

You could do it that way but why bother pulling them without first testing. Just spray some WD-40 around the boots. It they leak, RPM will rise.

Or Use Brake Clean. If they leak, it will kill the RPM.

You'll find out pretty quick if they leak.

If they do....Are they cracked or are your carbs possiblly not seated in the boots...

Don't over tighten the clamps.
