help seperating carbs

Is there anything special except for elbow greese to get these seperated? All joints except the one for the butterflys are loose. I have pried them apart a little but didn't want to go to far without guidance. Thanks

Warouge, Sorry, no help. Am quessing your' cv's are a twin set-up. a look at manual/parts breakdown would show if butterfly shaft is dovetailed or solid. In my experiance, butterflys are installed then staked, w/ some kind of adjustable linkage in mating. I can see why a complete break down is desirable, wish i had more. luck G

The complete breakdown was no help with it either. I have heard others say it is a pain to get them apart and back together and all work correctly. I'm trying not to break anything. If it wasn't for the dust cover over the joint I would soak them as is.

W. ? the breakdown didn't list shaft as 1 or 2 pieces? G./ Also, is it a choke butterfly or throttle?

I was looking at wrong diagram... I found the right one and it shows to remove the butterflys and the shaft will pull out... I feel like an Idot... Hey, I'm new at this.

Thanks for the Help. As soon as the carbs are cleaned and put back together I should be able to take it for my first ride on it.

W, respectfully, dis-agree w Plummen.Butterflys are usually a precise fit in bore and once disturbed a pain to re-align. thus my querie as to whther choke or throttle. If seperating carbs is manditory, ie leaking fuel tubes. I rec. removing the plate furthest from linkage arm and not disturbing other. If possible cleaning w/out removing plates, seperating carbs, is 1st opt. Luck G
