OK....1977 kz1000A. How do I go about identifying my carbs? Is there a "carb #" or tag or something somewhere? Can't tell from the Clymer....they all seem to look alike. And it mentions "with air screws" and "with pilot screws". Just wanna know for future referance, is all. Thanks in advance...

There is sometimes a number stamped into the flange where the carbs mount to the engine.

For air or pilot screws look at the sides of you carbs. There may be a screw (or an aluminum cap over a screw) on the outside of the carb, those would be air screws. If its not there look by your float bowls, for a hole or tube with a screw at the bottom of it, those would be fuel screws.

Heres a pic of air screws, but for a Mikuni VM24, maybe its of some help.

Well then, I just confirmed I have the air screws on my stock VM28's. For some reason I thought I had fuel screws before I took a good look at them. Thanks for the info!

Fuel screws are under the carbs, towards the front of the bike. Or so it is with the SR.
