I just went through a set 0f 28 pumpers. I removed the pump. and put 26 carb bowls.

The carbs had 17/112. That seems a 26mm set up. I then installed 20/120. Just right. Thay is with pods and headers.

Ironleg, My experiance has been, stock Mikuni's are very forgiving w/pilots and needle heights for application, and Mains usually within a step or two unless major eng./exhaust mods. Be safe, but not ballistic, Mechanical Mikuni's of the era were mostly 26- 28mm bores and were air screw, fuel screw, or both. if idle speed can be affected within a turn of stock setting, per cyl, evaluate. If idle changes w/less, be happy, your' pilots are easily in range. luck G. side bar, In my opinion, float heights are more a tuning/jetting issue, than simply keeping gas in the carbs. attend them closely. worn divots at float arms are frequent causes of overflow/gas filled cases.

iirc, my 78 1000 ltd is running 20/117.5....i went up a pilot after my motor work and it was bog city.....i havent tried
the 117.5 on the street yet as it is a winter wonderland here ......seems to be o k for getting it running and i have to get new throttle cables as the motion pros i have are not cutting it...i have nos cables coming and i should be able to dial it in a little more once they show up....
