Jetting help needed.
26 Nov 2008 17:23
Hi guys.
On my 82 CSR1000 the P/O added a 4 into 1 exhaust. I don't know the make it has no badges. The carbs have stock jetting in them. 122 main, 37.5 pilot. I'm going with pods and need to know what jet sizes I should go with and what brand is recommended. I'm in Florida.
I've read the many threads on here about pods vs airbox but am going with pods because of ease of access, taking on and off and I think they look good.
Thanks!

The pods will work fine. Use 140 mains and 40 pilot jets and turn the mix screws out 1 3/4 turns from lightly seated. Obviously, if you can afford K&N pods, they carry a million mile warranty and are re-cleanable. They should last a number of years with regular maintenance. They do tend to get over-oiled by most owners after cleaning but work fine if you mist them with K&N filter oil. You can also use Emgo pods which work fine but have paper elements and are disposable. A lot of the issue is how much you want to spend.

Since you're on the subject of jetting....
Once installed and with the motor running, how do you know you have the right combinations of jets and carb settings?
What methods or what should we be looking for to know we have it dialed in...
Just by the bluing of the pipes, spark plug conditions (brown, white or black), miss firing, sluggish on acceleration etc... All of the above...
Thanks,
OMR
