HOW LIMITED ARE THE 29MM SMOOTHBORES?

I was wondering what kind of power numbers can be attained with the use of these carbs on a 1075 engine with 425 cams. Im sure that ideally a 34mm flatslide would be the way to go but if the 29 smoothbores wont sacrifice that much power I would prefer to use them.

there is an equation on how to figure proper carb sizing ill try to find it, all i can say is this the 29's are almost a perfect match to that motor on the street, the throttle responce will be amazing and it will pull hard right to 10000+ rpm. im sure that you will be suprised how well they will work on that small motor.if your going to go drag racing with that combo [slick and wheelie bar]the 34's might be a better choice but if you are street riding i'd go with the 29's just because of the throttle response. by the way with a mild yosh intake cam and a ported head with 29's my 1075 cc street bike made 114 horse and 79 foot lbs of tourque on a chassis dyno down in sturgis last time i was there so i'd say thoses carb's work well wouldn't you.

Need a lot of downforce at that speed. Can't run a spoiler so the headlight is the ticket!!!

that was one quick single stick what the hell was done to it.down force that's what the bar was for i thought it was to deflect birds, bugs and errent gophers away from that space aged helmet and visor.

the 29 mm smooth bores will out flow your head (85~88 cfm approx) 34 mm Will flow more and be WORSE for street applications!!

the C.F.M. on a stock KZ head is 65 approx. the "little" 35mm intake valve is the biggest factor to what is limiting your power making capacity. more cam lift is a helping factor.
Increasing total C.F.M. thru the head.
Putting efforts towards lower cam lift flow numbers.
Higher compression level aka combustion efficiency are going to get you to the next level

the optimal carb diameter is at a ratio of 0.85 diameter of the intake valve diameter. and the tuned intake length is determined to what R.P.M. you want to peak at.

these carbs will make more power than the combination of parts you already have, assuming you have stock valve diameters and un altered combustion chamber volumes.

yes very true. A. Grahm Bell, Kevin Cameron, Gordon Jennings

I have a thing for performance... tuned perfection.

trig. and some sweat == big torque and power out of small engines.

So the answer is if you want great streetability go with the 29's. If you will have the bike at 10 grand go with the 34's.

i think you will be happy with the 29s. i have two bikes with 29 smoothbores one has 1105 kit with 400 lift cams no head work, theother has a 1200 kit, with 410 cams, ported head, welded crank, backcut trany, and they both run great with the 29s.i bang them both off of 10 grand all day long and they never seem to run out of power.
