Carb rebuilding

I have seen several carb rebuild/exchange places. is there one that is particularly recommended?

I am rebuilding the bike from the frame up and have enough to do with out doing the carbs too. not to mention would be good to have someone that knows what they are doing fix them up.

I have the same problem and the same question. Also, my bike has been sitting in a shed since 1997. Besides the carbs are there any other reconmendations before I try to fire her up? This is my first bike and I am a little lost. By the way she is a 1978 KZ1000.

not sure specifically on the 1000, I am new to the kz scene myself, but on other bikes I always change the oil and filter. no sense sending any "stuff" that has settled in the case circulating around. I also make sure the gas tank is really clean and put in an inline filter, you can suck in a ton of rust and sediment. if It was put away with any water in the brake fluid thers is a good chance the pistons and master cylinders have some pitting and corrosion in them. ie major brakes overhaul. and any appropriate regular maintenance item recommended for the mileage plus up to the next one or two because of age.
