Whew
03 Sep 2008 17:32 - 03 Sep 2008 17:38
My bike has been sitting in the garage for the past couple of months since it is our winter time here in Phoenix
I went out to start the bike yesterday and all the carbs were overflowing once started. Err. So I turned off the gas, started the bike again and tried to blow the crud out by reving the engine and occassionally turning the gas on. No luck. All carbs still leaking.
In a last ditch attempt before pulling the rack off to do a rebuild I decided to drop some Seafoam in the tank and try the reving procedure again. Apparently whatever I did yesterday worked and there was no need for the Seafoam. No leaks upon startup!
Better to be lucky than good sometimes.

sometimes junk in the carbs will cause floats to stick.

Normal thing to happen after sitting for awhile. You could have also gently tapped on the bowls also with good results.

Good tip blue. Whenever I let the bike sit for a while I take out some screwdrivers and play those bowls like a musical instrument. For some reason it didn't do the trick..... Or maybe it did. I'm not sure at this point.
