82 GPZ750 replacement carbs?
19 Aug 2008 10:28
GPZ750
On one of my bike's carbs, the part of the carb body that holds the float valve pin is broken off.
What are this bikes carbs called?
Would I be better off trying to replace that one carb?
Is there a better replacement carb rack that does not cost 1/2 the value of the whole bike?
Is there any way to repair this broken piece of the carb body? The PO used JB weld & JB does NOT like to be immersed in fuel.
Any help is appreciated.

From looking at the parts diagram for your model, it looks like it came with Mikuni BS34 carbs. These are readily available on EBay all the time. They were stock carbs on most of the KZ1000 and KZ1100 bikes from 1981 on, as well as several other models. Since you only need one carb body, keep your eye out for a set that is incomplete, being sold for parts--to save some coin.
A complete set in decent shape usually sells for between $75-150 on Ebay.
Keep in mind that although other models use BS34 carbs, the jetting may not be the same. So if you buy a complete set, swap over the jets before mounting on your bike. Otherwise, if you get a set of "parts" carbs, you can just swap out the one carb body, install your original jets, and you are good to go.
