It is possible to do, but not easy...there are no 'drop-in' systems for the 750 and the FI systems you see for sale on eBay are for the 1984/5 turbo model. Several members have converted their 650/750's to FI (the one that leaps to mind is Jimmybon in Australia) with some success. Kawasaki experimented with FI on 750's in 1982 and released the KZ750R1 in Japan w/FI but everyone else got that model w/carbs.

Wasn't Dave Sloan in Australia the first? He's been running EFI with a MegaSquirt controller on his 810 kitted 650 for quite a while now.

Dave Sloan used GPz1100 throttle bodies although I think GPz750 Turbo throttle bodies with GPz1100 injectors is a better solution. The Turbo injectors are larger than the 1100 injectors, and unless you are planning to get 120 or more hp out of your 750 (a neat trick) then the 1100 injectors would work better.

Easy is relative, easier for someone like me that is knowledgeable in computers, EFI, electronics, and mechanical, than for someone with no skills. Even someone with no skills can convert a bike to EFI, it just takes longer and is harder.

The cost of converting to EFI is comparable to swapping on a new set of carbs (a small percentage of the total cost of my project bike), and after tuning, the results exceed that obtainable by carbs (usually 10% better fuel mileage and power).

Michael I'm sure you must be thinking of Dave Sloan's bike not Jimmybon's. They are both from down under though.

You can't use the dfi box from a 750 E model...it is configured for a turbo and cannot be remapped. You probably need to PM Dave Sloan (he's a member here) to see what hoops he had to leap through to get where he is...he's a helpful fellow..

Everything you need to know is at www.msefi.com/index.php for the fuel injection stuff, KZ specifics can be addressed by me or Dave Sloan (and maybe a couple more).

Dave Sloan is a lot farther along than I am, he has a running bike :D

hi guys, sorry I have not replied earlier but besides being slack I am busy finishing off the house renovations I started 21/2 years ago:( (will be done by December:lol:
and I have been collecting parts and modifying stuff to fit on the gpz900 streetfighter I am building (which will hopefully take less time than the house)
Steel I had a look at the original thread in the archives where you, Kzjim and stef were the only ones on the thread, lots of good info there
kzrider.com/archive/viewthread.php?tid=25752&page=4
At htre moment I am running an Ms1 ver 2.2 board with alpha-n ms&sextra code. Gpz1100 tB's, injectors, TPS, fuel reg and pump. The injectors are low impedance and I was running the B&G flyback board but Im not using that ecu at the moment so I am using resistors and have the PWM disabled. The flyback board is on my other ecu which os set up for ignition but I am running a Dyna S at the moment until I have more time to play with the ignition.
I run a tech edge 2EO wide band with a built in display which I use in conjunction with a palm PDA that is used for logging and also as a display, I can also alter the fuel map with the palm. The logs are then downloaded into a target afr program and the VE map altered by the laptop :woohoo: Its Awesome
I was running the ignition through the ms using a vr sensor and a 12-1 toothed wheel but the starting was not good (erratic) as the bikes dont have much flywhell inertia and the crank turns jerky while cranking in part because of the starter clutch design. ArrtuH from the ms forum has come up with a solution using 2 hall sensors reading off of the same wheel that has worked great on his turbocharged gs1100 Suz that I am going to make up once I have more time (read house and GPZ900 fighter finished)
I find that at cruising speed on the highway the throttle is hardly open so the smaller 750 turbo TBs should give a better response although the zx636 Tb's that I have for the GPZ (taoer down to 38mm) are the same spacing as the gpz ones B)
Dont kow if that covers what you were after but let me know and I will fill in any gaps.
