Question about the air screw on kz 550 81 ltd

1981 Kc550-c2 ltd
In my Haynes Workshop Manual it shows the carbs having a air screw but on my carbs I see a silver looking plate I think covering the area. I was told on some models that they just filled in where the air screw should be.

The air screws are under the silver plates. Make sure you are looking at the correct plates, though, because there are several that should not be opened. If you are sure you are looking at the right plates, you can just poke a really really sharp awl into the plate and pull it out. I don't like using drill bits because they can go in too far and damage the screw. The plate or plug is about 1 mm to 2mm thick.

I have never herd of an awl. Were can you get one and for what price?

Welcome.
You can get an Awl at a hardware store (or similar) for not much money, maybe a few dollars. A dental pick, or anything pointy and strong could work.
