Hey Guys I'm running a 76 kz900 with pods and a kerker!! I have a set of 28 mikuni carbs with an accalerator pump. I'm running 20 mains and 17 pilots!! I have the needle all the way up(on the first clip). The bike is still running lean (white plugs) and back firing!! Any suggestions on what the mains and pilots should be? Thanks in advance for your help. My Kz also says thanks in advance as it wants to hit the pavement soon!!!!

Just to clarify...where exactly do You have the cir-clip?...at the TOP of the needle,or the BOTTOM of the needle?
There's 5 notches.The top would be position #1...

The clips are on the bottom so that the needles are all the way up. I guess it would be #5 not 1#. hope this helps

Clip slots are numbered 1 to 5 from top to bottom. You are on slot #5. The carbs should be plenty rich. Check float levels and if you have an inline filter, replace it and make sure there are no sharp bends in your fuel hose.

If you have 28 pumpers, the #120 mains are more than enough... probably on the large side...

Ok I replaced the inline filter and checked the floats. All seems in check. the bike is running better but still a little lean. When your cuising around 60 and opening the throttle wide open it bogs before opening itself up. would this be a main jet problem or maybe a needle jet?
