has anybody replaced hard airbox hoses and been surprised at how easily they can remove the carbs now? i either need to replace the tubes i had to cut to get off or buy pods. i would like to replace the hoses but would like to know if it will be much easier to get the carbs in and out if you can bend that rubber or is it just that you dont have room to work with in there?

Ive done it. Just get new hoses, and when putting them on I pushed the hoses through the airbox, out onto the carbs. It's easy with new hoses

I did it last summer with new carburetor intake hoses and new spring hose clamps.

But, to remove the carburetor I seem to remember that I had to remove the battery box, unscrew the airbox and move the air box as far back as possible. I believe that I had to remove the timing chain tensioner also. Finally, it was possible to wiggle the cab assembly out... not easily but do-able. I had to be really careful because I did no want to scratch up my airbox which I had recently painted with a plastic compatible gloss black spray paint (turned out really nice).

However, kzwolfsr may have found an easier way to do that last step.

Best of success! Keep that 77 KZ650 rolling.
