I have a shop manual for the KZ750 but don't have one for the ZN700. Both use CV34s (some models of the KZ750) but the ZN700 has different floats. They are flat on the bottom when viewed rightside up. I don't have a shop manual for the CV34 service fuel level spec for the ZN700. Can anyone help? Also, what is the OEM size for the "main jet" which is the 8.5mm long barrel shaped jet that works the mid-range and not the little secondary main jet (actually the REAL main jet) that sits on the main jet holder tube and needle jet. I tried emailing retroricerocket but his email bounced.
Thanks?

Hm, I guess my spam filter caught your email....sorry! :S

Technically there isn't a shop manual (at least not a FSM) available for the ZN700 or ZN750. It's basically a "blurb" (about 30 or so pages) in the back of the KZ750 Spectre manual, and covers the specs of both the ZN700A & ZN750A that are diff from the KZ750 Spectre.

Anywaaaayyyy!

Fuel service level is 0.5 mm +/- 1 mm (it actually shows the minus sign under the plus sign)
Main jet (primary) - #68
Main jet (secondary - the one you want?) - #92
Pilot jet - #35
Main air jet (primary) - #100
Main jet (secondary) - #60
Pilot air jet - #100

I figured it'd be easier to list it all, that way you won't need to wait for me to pop in with the rest later. Let me know if you need any of the other pages (wiring diagram, engine specs, etc) and I can scan and email them to you. ;)

Ok, now MY turn!

I'm re-assembling the CV24's off of my '78 KZ650, and was curious if the choke plunger rods should be lightly lubed (grease, WD-40, motor oil, KY jelly :pinch: or ???) before reinserting them into the carb bodies?

I have a set of ZN carbs in the shop and set the floats to 4mm below yesterday and it ran lean. I had already noticed the different shape of the floats. The earlier floats will actually fit but are round and don't have the flat side so was very suspicious I had set the float levels incorrectly. Thanks! The larger main jet #68 should make these carbs work better than the originals which were pretty lean in transition. The fuel level right on the bowl/body juncture will make this carb prone to leaking unless the bowl oring is in good shape. If you guys want to save a few bucks when rebuilding these carbs, you can buy the K&L Economy carb kit for the KZ440 which has the same float needle, bowl oring and the same mixture screw with the same little metal washer, spring and rubber washer. This kit works for all the Keihin CV34 models if you don't want to buy parts individually. Unfortunately, the kit doesn't include jets or the fuel rail orings, etc.
Thanks!

Hey Corey,

If it weren't for you photocopying those pages for me out of the FSM when you worked at that dealership in Pomona(?), I probably wouldn't even have them to begin with!

Shared credit?
