I have an 82 kz750 CSR. I just had the carb rebuilt and got it all put back together. When I tried to start it, i was getting fuel blowback into where the air filter is and its leaking onto the ground. It also wont start. I do believe the pilot jet is a 50 and i know its supposed to be lower, but I was told if I put on a bigger air filter it should be OK. I just wanted to see if anyone could help me on how the heck to get this bike to run! Thanks!!

The fuel is literally pouring into the air box when i try to start it. It is also leaking out of the bottom of the two bowls on the carb...

sounds like you have some debris stuck in the needle and seat or a sunk float

Perhaps a reassembly mistake common to both carbs, so here are some random thoughts as to possible goofs.

Failed to replace a part related to float needle and seat (such as needle or seat or gasket or any combination) the float pivot rods or the floats themselves.

Installed floats upside down.

Installed damaged or leaking floats (so they both sunk, as previously mentioned).

Maladjusted float level tabs so the needles are not being pressed into their seats even if floats are floating.

Float bowls on backwards.

Float needles interchanged between seats and failing to properly seat in "wrong" seat.

Would seriously doubt the rebuilder did a float bowl service fuel level check, otherwise the overflow problems would have been evident.

Guess it's possible the carbs were perfect when put back on the bike, but were allowed to intake dirty unfiltered fuel which then promptly clogged between both needles and seats (as previously mentioned). Was an in-line filter being used at all times?

If good pure clean filtered fuel was admitted to the freshly rebuilt carbs both of which immediately began leaking out the overflows, it seems to me the rebuild was somehow at fault.

BTW, some of the excess fuel may have also made its way into the crankcase via the combustion chamber past the pistons and/or via the crankcase vent tube (if vented to bottom of air box). If any doubt about oil contaminated with gas, both oil and filter should be changed before running the engine.
