Mikuni TM36-31 is very close, see pics. But I didn´t find a set of four as aftermarket kits so they could be off a big later GSXR or some other superbike or from a factory race-kit. Send that pic to Sudco or www.mikuni-topham.de. I got some good info from Topham-Mikuni.

And if you don´´t like them I´ll take them:P If yhe spacing matches try them. They could really pump up your bikeB)

Heres a link to Sudco, click on the parts diagrams to see what you have. It looks like you have a set of RS 36 carbs.

www.sudco.com/

Mikuni doesnt clearly mark their carbs like other manufacturers do and they make many variants of the same carb (Some are not listed on the Sudco site)
The 1st pic is a set of Mikunis off a snowmobile. They are basically a set of RS 38 that do not have an accelerator pump set up. Sudco doesnt have these carbs listed on their site but the RS parts work with these carbs. (this set has been modified to fit a Suzuki GT 750)
The second picture is a set of 1985 GSXR 750 Mikuni flat slides. This set has the common throttle shaft on the engine side. Usually the 34mm and smaller flat slides have the common throttle shaft on the engine side where the 36mm and larger have the shaft on the air box side.

Second pic (GSXR 750 Carbs)
These carbs have the accelerator pumps located in the center of the carb body (see the plastic cam for the accel rods) and they have 1 accel pump for 2 carbs (the set of 4 carbs has 2 accel pumps)

I have a set of Mikuni Carbs that I am trying to identify (pic attached). The numbers on them are T36D3P. The suction side inner diameter is about 40mm.
Does anybody have experience with these particular carbs? I want to put them on my 78 KZ1000 but don't know if they are useful for plain street riding?
What would be the benefits of installing them on a stock engine bike with K&N filters and 4-1 performance exhaust?
Thanks to all....

Post edited by: kzlaverda, at: 2007/03/10 08:32

If they turn out to be too big and you want to unload for not too many $, I'd like to see if I could get them to work with a 2000CC BMW (73 2002) motor.

They sure look to be RS flatslides. Check the KZ Zone/APE site (links) for info. I would agree, 40mm would be way too big for a stock 1000. I have 36mm RS carbs on an 1170 and I feel this is the max size for my engine for street use.

Fish: Those carbs from a GSXR750 are TM33-8012 (pretty shure since I got those in my ELR)

There´s one major difference in TM´s and RS´s. In TMs the floatbowl is not in 90deg angle to slides when you look at them from the side. It´s really difficult to say based on just one pic. So it´s down to 2, RS or TM. More pics, pliiiis:unsure:

here´s RS36 -kit:

They are pretty valuable.........decent set or RS36´s goes for around 300-400$ and TM´s 250-350$ so don´t just get rid of them...

I wish they were TM 33's. The early GSXR's have TM 29 carbs. The later models have the 33's. The carb spacing on the early GSXR carbs isnt the same as the KZ 900 (or they would be on my 900:angry:)The later models have the same spacing as the KZ. The carbs are measured at where the slide is. The engine side of these carbs measure close to 34mm while the air box side and slide area measures 29mm. I attached a pic of the air box side.
If you got to the Sudco page listed, click on "products", Then "mikuni carbs" then list of TM carbs. The TM carbs with accelerator pumps have the belcrank for the throttle cable, where the no accel carbs have a throttle cable directly to the slide. The same Mikuni carb series often look very different and adds to the confusion of identifing what carbs you actually do have.
To add to the Mikuni confusion, I also have a set of TM 33's that have the belcrank for the throttle cable, but no accelerator pump (snowmobile application). More Mikuni confusion is that the TM 29 arent listed on the Sudco site, but the TM parts (jets, gaskets, etc) can be used in these carbs. I have found that most of the time, the confusion is due to OEM Mikuni carbs (the TM33 with out the accel pump is a factory Yamaha carb set)
I'll bet kzlaverda is really confused now!!! You can usually tell what series you have by the float bowl gasket.(usually)

Thanks Fish, this is really good info! Finally there´s someone who really seems to know about Mikunis.

You´re right, OEM sets makes it really confusing and the fact that tere aren´t any clear visible ID´s on those sets. My set is from a GSXR and is exactly the same as TM33-8012 with acc pumps when you compare to the exploded view so I reckon that what they are.

Somebody pliis write a book about them:laugh:
