About a year ago I bought a bunch of carbs at a bike shop auction. These carbs were in the box of carbs. They are the 1975 Z-1 VM28s. They have been bored out to 29mm. On the air box side the the choke passage has been smoothed and the air jets have been "free-ed" from their original casting (the set on the bottom, the top set is a set of stock Z-1 for comparison).

Would be curious as to how well they work in the range between idle and WOT ;-) Can you mount them up, make a few runs, and report back?

There don't appear to be any slides installed. Without slides, the only option for engine speed control is 'blipping'. Makes them useless for anything but drags. WG has probably seen something like these but along with gris and a few others, has been scarce lately.

fish-
would you happen to have a set of carbs and holders suitable for use on an old CB400? To trade, I have a couple of MIC BS34 with good(no scuffs) slides and good(no leak or patch) diaphragms. Pretty much all that is missing is the linkage for choke and throttle.

The carbs are complete, I just havent put them together yet. I was rebuilding them and when I started to look closer at them and I noticed they were different from the other Z-1 carbs I have. I replaced the choke plunger spools with a set of aluminum spools.
I will probably try them out (closer to spring) when I remove my turbo.

I got a bunch of carbs that are unmarked. So I may have a CB 400 set. Can you post a pic? I dont want any stinkin' CV carbs for trade so you would need to buy them out right.

I couldn't tell any difference in performance from the 2 sets of carbs pictured. Maybe on a dyno, there would be a 1/3 of a hp difference, but in real life (on the street) both carbs worked well and performed the same.
