(82, carbs, shaft-drive)
The previous owner capped off the 2 vent hoses at the front of the engine, and the vacuum ports on the 4 carbs. There is no vacuum to the petcock at this time.
Can anyone tell me if this setup is workable, or should I restore the crankcase vent system?
Where should I get the vacuum for my petcock?
Or is there a solution for a conventional petcock?
Any advice and comments appreciated!
Thanks!!

Where on the #3 carb is the dedicated vacuum port for the petcock?
My carb to head mounting boots do not have a vacuum port.
Do I need that emissions control system that has been capped off?

Thanks for the quick replies!

Start the bike up and put your finger on all the ports you see. The one that sucks is it. Make sure you put the caps on all the others.
No you don't need the emissions stuff.

The link kzrider.com/component/option,com_docman/...oc_download/gid,136/ should take you to an article that shows the vacuum port for Mikuni carbs. See figure 24.
I could not find the wiredgeorge link I was looking for, as it shows full hook up but that one will do.
A lot of guys just do away with the vacuum petcock, but, since buying my '78 KZ1000A I have ridden almost 350 miles now and never had a problem.
