i found a set of 28mm carbs with accel. pump at a parts place i know. it looks as if someone tried to disable the accel. pump because the little brass squirt tubes
(4 each) had been removed. would these carbs still be functional and worthy of messing with without the accel pump and associated hardware? i am sure i could pick them up for a song.

Mine have a pump whick I'm still trying to dial in, but for years they did not and worked just fine when jetted properly! Just my thought but I think they will be fine. I believe you will want to block off any ports associated with the pump, fuel, vacuum, etc.

I've got a set of 79 Non accel. pump VM 28's and they run great. I don't know if there are differences (aside from the accel. pump) in these carbs though. I rebuilt mine and jetted them for pod filters and a 4 into 1 and they scream.

I think I read somewhere that the newer 28's stay in sync better.
