Mikuni BS32 Bowl Gaskets

Decided to share a recent 3D printed project.
I've modeled (did not copy someone else's design) the bowl gasket shape and size into a 3D printable object.
It's made much thicker than the normal gasket. The intent here is to use it as a template to trace onto sheet gasket material. This way, you're not potentially tracing past mistakes over from an old used gasket.
I know some of you purists will scoff at it, because "gaskets are cheap!".... but with our current economy, are they really?
Printed template

Template laid onto bowl mating face

Gaskets cut using template

The zip file just contains the STL file to use with the slicer/printer. You can print it out of whatever material you want.
I've confirmed the fitment with Mikuni BS32 and Mikuni BS32SS carbs.

Nice job!

What gasket paper do you use?  I've never found any that's the proper thickness and material composition.

I used this:
www.amazon.com/dp/B0FBTTRFDT

I tested it in non-ethanol gasoline and regular 87, Didn't swell or crumble in either case. I used the 1.0mm thickness.
To trace, I used a sharp awl.
For the circular holes, i clamped the template over the pattern and just drilled them. For the inside and outside, I used a scroll saw. It worked shockingly well. Didn't fray the edges at all.

Edit: The linked material appears to be "rubberized" or impregnated with something resembling rubber. It's pretty hard to tear. And it's very difficult to cut the whole way through with a fresh blade. Cutting with a blade as opposed to a saw displaces material and leaves a "lip" on the cut edge. With a very high TPI blade on the scroll saw, this "lip" never forms.

I'm a fan. I made mine from 1.5mm Viton sheet and they have been on and off several times with no leaking issues (I used Viton rather than Nitrile and it swells less so should stay in place

For future reference, what is the ideal/nominal thickness of the gasket for the BS32?

I tried this stuff before and it was absolute garbage.  No toughness; tears easily and shreds when cutting.  Not recommended.

I went with 1.5mm to hopefully absorb any slight distortion

Thankfully, I did not see any indication of that, with the product I used. Hell, I used a sanding drum on a dremel to smooth out some sloppy cuts. Even that didnt make the material fray or shred.
Hearing you say this... I think I'll order a bit more. So I dont have to hunt for it "next time".
