Red cherry exhuast!
13 Oct 2025 12:45 - 13 Oct 2025 12:46
Working on my 1978 kz650, I noticed that the inside of my exhaust super red inside. Its was running for a good 4-5min that I noticed the inside was getting super hot. I cant tell from the outside of the header because I have an exhaust wrap. It has a welded ducati exhaust

The wrap will retain heat in the exhaust but that still seems excessive ?

I wish I took a picture, it was GLOWING! Reading up saying bike might be running lean? Hopefully a nice carb clean will fix it

I'm not sure if this applies, but NEVER let your bike run, parked, for more than a couple of minutes, unless you have air blowing over the engine. Not only does the exhaust overheat, the engine proper does also.
