Gear change

Iam having trouble selecting gear ,is there a only one way the spring goes on the gear change shaft.

What sort of trouble are you having? KZs have a positive neutral finder, so you can't shift gears from 1st to 2nd unless the motorcycle is moving or the rear wheel is spinning.

Hi iam Tim my Z1 900a4 has a 4coil spring when I put the cover back on the gear shaft won't move did Kawasaki change the engine case and can you get a smaller spring.

The early models 73-76 take a 3 wind spring A 77 and on is to thick and will not work.It binds up shift shaft.

As you can see in the fitment chart, that spring was used on a variety of models. Search the web using the whole part number.
