Has anybody removed their baffles for repair? Am I right in thinking that I just drill out the 3 rivets shown here then remove the baffle, as you can see it needs a bit of welding !!

No guarantee that removing those rivets will allow full baffle removal. You gotta fix that hole though so it would be a good place to start so...

Yeah definitely, so does the circular part with the 3 rivets come away on it's own then ?
Don't think I can do a good repair with it on the bike...

I just got done removing the baffles on my 550 yesterday, and it was a bittch!!
I drilled out the 3 screws and it was just a cover plate with a another plate behind it. I ended up drilling about a hundred little holes around the edge and pounding it out. Then I had to weld a slide hammer onto the center pipe and ripping the center of the baffle out. It wasn't fun. I can send a picture of what the core of the baffle looked like in a bit.

I only want to take the end plate off to get it welded as its rotted away a bit and blowing slightly. I drilled out the 3 rivets, but without risking damaging the chrome, I just couldn't shift it. I don't have any welding equipment so cant weld anything to it. I gave up in the end. Will have to get it to a garage !!!
