My head gasket is leaking a little on both sides so I'm going to replace it the engine is a 1984 zx550 which I thought was basically the same as any kz550 but I can not find a gasket for the zx550 . So I emailed z1 enterprises and was told (Unfortunately the gasket kits are different. The ZX550 didn't come out until 1984, the gasket kits we carry are for the KZ550 which is a completely different motorcycle.) I understand some things are different but shouldn't most of the gaskets be the same? Like valve cover, head, and base gasket?

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationIf you look up the part numbers on Partzilla they will tell you what bikes the part fits.

Just did a search on partzilla and it looks like all the gaskets I need are the same for multiple models from 1980-1986 some cover even a wide range into the zephyr.

OEM gaskets are best. That head gasket I linked is a good deal, I'd grab that up. Other critical gaskets are the base gasket and valve cover gasket. Safe bet is to get everything OEM, that way you know you have the best. Aftermarket gaskets range in quality from acceptable to crap.
