Has anyone used the Suzuki valve stem oil seal that Z1 parts say can be used on my 1976 KZ900? They are not OEM but are a fraction of the price...

Viton valve stem oil seals are the best you can get fot Money.
Please use a "condom" for the install to prevent any damages of the sealing lip!!!

or made your own condom out of a 7 mm drink straw

The sharp edges of the valve keeper groove can cut off the rubber sealing lip during the install.

Those Suzuki seals are probably exactly the same as the Kawasaki seals. Manufacturers use outside vendors for such parts. When I recently rebuilt the brakes on my ZRX, I used Suzuki Hyabusa seals. They are exactly the same seals used by Kawasaki, made by the very same company, but fromSuzuki they are about 1/4 the price.
Never the less, Viton seals are better.

There is a member here that sells viton seals. I'll look around to see if I can find his name. Realize though, viton is a material, not a brand, and good or bad seals can be made from viton.

Edit: the member that sells the viton valve stem seals is here... www.kzrider.com/kunena/profile/18962-dfigpz

When I had my head redone I went with Ape seals since they did the work......... at the time I didn't read much about whats better and might have went with the viton ones if I had done so but am not worried as the Ape seals are said to be proven to be top quality.
