Is the shifter too high, too low, too short, or too long? If it's too high or too low it can be removed and put back on at a slightly different angle to raise or lower the part the toe contacts. Ed

I tried moving it up and down on the mounting ,... it seems to be too close into the bike.. almost if it could be moved out some and maybe a little wider where your toes lift it..

I would compare it to eebbaayy pics of a good or nos gear change pedal to make sure yours isn't bent. Then compare it to shifters from other models, such as the KZ650/750 or KZ1000 to see if any of those are longer or otherwise more suitable. I'm assuming the splined ends would be the same. The gear change pedal on my 81 650-CSR is about 8-1/8" long. hooking a measuring tape onto the most rearward end & measuring to the outer tip away from the arm (kind of diagonally).

Maybe it is bent and merely needs to be pulled away from the engine. Some pictures would sure help.

Is it possible you can take photo from the side (same height as the pedal) ?

It looks bent to me. Why not just straighten it? Ed

Your right , At first i thought it was bent at the end where you get it with your toes but it ended up being bent down close to where it mounts up... ended up putting it in a vise and tapping with hammer to bend it back out..
