Clutch

96 KZP. Clutch doesn’t fully dis engage when lever pulled. Cable has slack even after adjustment. It actually adjust all the way in. I’m thinking broken cable. I’ve adjusted at the lever and adjustment mid cable. Trying to trouble shoot before I remove the side cover. I just did an oil change but it was happening before. Thxs in advance

You have to start with the clutch adjuster mechanism in the sprocket cover.
Ar you sure your clutch cable is not end of life with broken wires that expand the leveler way????

I’m getting zero adjust. I’m thinking busted cable.

Cable ordered. Figured if I’m removing the side cover I’m replacing it. I believe it’s OEM anyways.

If the cable is broke you should not have any pressure on the perch to pull it in.  There would also be no retract on the perch when you release it.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Yea it’s not severed. Stretched and frayed is my guess. Once I tear into it I’ll know. Engine only has 1000 miles it.

When doing the clutch release adjustment, in what direction are you turning the adjusting screw?

On the cable I adjusted out. Got it working fine but cable is defiantly stretched. No more clutch pull with lever in.
