Break in engine oil
29 Jun 2018 14:22
What would be a good break in engine oil on a kz750?
I have seen a lot of different ideas, I just wanted to have a second opinion.
It would be nice if it was cheap
I plan on getting it started to see if there are any oil leaks. I’ll shut it off and send the frame off to go get painted. I just would rather try and see if I need to take it out b4 it gets painted. And if it blows......well it blows.
Thanks!

Shell Rotella T4 15W-40. If you can't find that any standard diesel oil is fine.

KZ shim engines are extremely easy on cams and tappets. A puddle of oil collects around the bucket and each time the cam comes around it gets a nice dip. It's old time V8 engines with flat tappet (mechanical) cams that have issues with lobes going flat, not KZ's.
