kz / gpz exhaust..
17 Jun 2007 19:28
sort of desperately looking for a decent used exhaust for a vintage racer i am building..
i dont mind to get a new one but doesnt seem to be many companies still making them for these bikes..
bike is an 84 gpz750.. i was told kz750 and kz1000 still will fit on it..
ebay has nothing but Xpipe and i cant change the oil easily with that and no idea how it sounds..
any advice appreciated.. (or if you have one for sale..
)
cheers

If you're looking for a stock exhaust, I have a GPz 1100 and I want to go 4-1. Maybe we could work something out. Send me an e-mail.

650, 750, and I think ZR7 exhaust, will fit on the GPz750, you will have to modify (adjust the spacing) a 1000 exhaust to get it to fit.

Eel I'm told that any year ZR7 or ZR7-S exhaust will work since they are all the same. I just finished putting one on my 77 650 C-1. Here is a pic so you will have some reference as to clearance. Keep in mind though this bike has shocks that are 2" lower than stock in the rear. My only other caveat is that the system is very heavy easily 3X the weight of say a Kerker.

Gringo is right. The stock ZR7 system is DAMN HEAVY!
Yesterday I re-mounted my stock system (with TBR canister) on my ZR all by myself.
Personally, I think I should get some kind of award for accomplishing this feat all by myself.
Four pipes all connected; 4 exhaust gaskets, 8 half-circle holders and 4 exhaust flanges all assembled by poor little 'ol me in an un-air conditioned garage while wearing glasses.
Not the easiest thing I've ever done.:ohmy: :ohmy:

MAC in the US, or Motard in the UK is about the only aftermarket suppliers of headers out there. Keep an eye out on ebay, as used systems show there from time to time as well.
