i understand that, but are they the same compound ?
i suppose the tread would be useless unless it rains.

I am using the treaded race tire above, and they are great, with good grip, and still a lot of tread remaining! There are many different choices with the slick tires and different compounds, plus full rains, and even intermediates, so having more options that just one tire, well, you get the picture.

As for the compound comparrison, I wouldn't know how close or different they are.

Some Racing Organizations require DOT Race Tires.

when i go to the track days and watch em at the corkscrew.....the beater bikes and ones with license plates are having more fun than the guys playing on the edge...there was some kid running a big thumper dirt bike sideways into the corkscrew on streetbike tires...you could hear him sliding before he came over the rise.......

the serious guys were dumping bikes and breaking stuff...what fun is that?

well i certainly would not buy them if they were bad.
i was talking to a guy that bought some, and he said they were so good that he got the season out of them. he still had them on the day i crashed, as a matter of fact , it was him that passed me. then i said to myself, i should be able to go faster if he can. then i crashed after grabbing too much throttle followed by grabbing too much brake. oops. :woohoo:
