No limitations, only that the engine and frame have to be what came in there, but updating and backdating is legal. Any bore,, stroke, cams, carbs, suspension, wheels, any crank mods, and one even can strengthen the stock frame, which is my plans over the winter.

It will only get better from where I am now. B)

Welcome to the site Ed.

Here's the last round at Thunderhill Raceway, viewed from Go-Pro Wide. I "raced up a class" just for the experience, so that's why they all pulled away from me on the 600-750cc bikes. Lean with me in the corners.

Ed just joined, and his first post is above.

Very nice Moriwaki, as that's obviously a signature exhaust there. I will try my best to be careful with mine. Have been told is makes a very noticable sound out on track, but I never hear it, as I'm always on the bike. I do have a few short clips my brother took, but he says the sound doesn't do it justice:

Oh yes, don't I know it, but with stock front suspension, stock single-piston calipers(one on each side), stock discs, and stock wheels, and even with Galfer Green Race Pads, I'm braking as late as I can in a almost every corner. Key word is "almost", but braking deeper little by little. Next year with upgrades, I should be able to brake a lot deeper, and with less effort. It will be a while before I can keep up with Ed.

Dang, sorry to hear about your spill. Heal well, and take the time to do it right. We could always use more critics. If you're really bored, you can watch a bunch of my on-bike videos at YouTube, under "CoreyDSFA".

the reason i mentioned braking harder, was that i didnt notice the forks dive , maybe its just the video ? anyways, in lesson 1 we learned to do all of our braking before the corner. in lesson 2 u learn trail braking. this is when u brake a little less on the straight and then carry some braking into the corner. this allows a smoother entry.
put a cable tie around your inner fork slide.this will tell u how much the forks are compressing during braking. u want to use most of the travel on the hardest corner. u would adjust the preload and damping to achieve this.
it takes a lot of laps to get good. i'm a long ways away, but having fun.
when i crashed, i was toooo hard on the brakes for the cold track. the bike would do a stoppie in the summer if i broke too hard, but with a cold track the bike just slide right out from under me, like i was on ice. this was my cbr6 not the kz.
so i learned the hard way. :(
hope u dont bud.
have fun.B)

speaking of all this racing business, what do you racer boiz think about anti-dive forks? My GPz11 has them and I am just wondering if they are useful or just a 1983 fad...

my thought would be that they probably did not work, or we would have seen more of them. but i have no experience with them. the 96 zx9 forks i have on my kz are night and day better in the dive department. i dont think they even have as much travel as the kz's .
this is better when u brake hard, u can have less rake and trail, without getting under-steer from the nose dive.B)

Thanks for the feedback Mark.

If you look at the pictures, on the left fork tube there is a black zip tie there, and I also have one on my street bike.

The rear suspension houses a freshly rebuilt Fox Twin Clicker, and the suspension has been set up for me by a tuner.

In one of the videos on YouTube, the camera is on the front fender, and facing backwards so you can see the front suspension work. I am running freshly rebuilt front forks with Progressive Suspension Springs, the air system blocked off, and 15w fork oil to Progressive's specs. 10w fork oil was way too thin, 12w wasn't enough either, and 20w was too thick, but like on Goldie Locks and The Three Bears, "15w was juuust right".

The anti-dive is cranked up all the way, and it was a form of makinig the front suspension act like a progressive type.

The trail braking and not braking as much will come in time, but is a good point, as I am definitely not a "corner-parker", but learning to also get on the gas sooner than where I am feeling comfortable, the same with braking deeper. It's all about working slowly out of your comfort zones in Baby Steps(What About Bob).

Believe me, walking the track will cut your times guaranteed, as you'll see corners much clearer.

This is my first year racing, and I hve learned soooo much.
