Wow! :woohoo: Truly a piece of history so no frame welding but I wouldn't ride it if you have other bikes. Slowly, piece by piece I would refinish. I still think I'd powdercoat that frame but a really good paint would do just fine. Wow, I'm in shock. That bike I have seen in crappy shape go for 10k many years ago when these bikes still weren't getting top dollar.
Whatever I would do I still would like to mod it to where it's rideable with a sense of modern feel unless I planned on showing it but then really what good is it as a bike then?
Congratulations to you! I think everyone is right. I would just keep it completely stock and if not to the point where all the pieces can be replaced back to stock easily. You truly have found a bike that you will have a lifetime. She is a keeper!

I noticed vacuum ports on the rubber manifolds. They were probally changed once.
Does the cylinder head have the brass ports coming out the bottom side of the head at the rear, right by the rubber manifolds, just curious?
This motor should also have the real thin cam chain tensioner.
You will want to rechrome the rusty wheel rings, they have the proper date codes. As long as insides are good, might spend 4-500 dollars to rechrome them.
Send the front disc to the guy on ebay in Michigan, who does disc conditioning. The disc has a date code too.
Plan on 3-4-5 years of restoration, many thousands of dollars to do it right. Make it a labor of love.
This is the only motorcycle to withstand the fluttering world economy.
As I see younger guys here, this bike will be collectible for the next 25 to 50 years easy!
Good Luck, you'll need it!
