it would make a badass bobber but i cant bring myself to chop up the superbike of its day.
I made a list of what i need for this bike:
-Coils/plug wires/caps/plugs
-Fork seals/dust boots
-Ignition
-Tires
-Battery
-rear shocks
-sandblasting/sodablasting
-paint
-handle bars
-clutch cable
-grips
-foot peg rubber
-Tank Sealant
-Stainless fastners
-Seat re covered
-Mirrors
-polishing
-alot of cleaning
This may take longer then expected. I might have to sell my car to pay for this  but its worth it.
I am now reciving donations from any kind soul who cares.

Have you checked the production date? Case Number? Frame Number?

Hell to the yeah!!!! Stole that bike!!! There are so many cool trick z1 parts that you could upgrade with. I would first do the custom triple clamps to replace those chickenshit clamps that were stock. Gotta upgrade the wiring system to update fuse box etc. Oh yeah. Sorry guys but I would make many non-stock improvements because, just because.
If I could find one like that... the money I would spend without thinking twice about it. Of course I would definitely go for the stock look with major improvements added. I would never sell so it wouldn't matter the money or slight frame mods. I seriously wouldn't think twice about building that up.
Brace the frame, powdercoated, all aluminum polished to chrome look, engine beefed up, swingarm, custom rims and spokes polished hubs. Oh my god the work that would go in to it would all but astound.
I have an 80 that is completely being redone at the moment. This spring when it's done and my fingertips are gone from all the sanding and polishing that I did over the winter will definitely do proper justice to the bike. I would still ride a beat kaw but why if I could make it breathe new life again and feel more able to compete with the corners due to improvements.

Dude, if you chop one part on that thing you're retarded. You basically have a Mona Lisa and are about to paint a mustache on it.

Wow this is incredible!
This boils down to your love of the Z1!
If you are a business man, this is what you could do.
This is what I would do, (my opinion)!
Quick sales.
Sell the early no rib carbs for a $1000. This means you have the early vacumm port cylinder head. Sell the cylinder head for full potential!
Take the engine apart, fully clean and bead blast the cases, then powdercoat them satin.
Then hope the fork legs are the early lug style. sell them.
You can turn them few items into lots O' cash.
Don't forget about the early frame & title #.
And if you do that you take 1 more out of the history of the Z1, 1 less, which makes the value of the Z1 more.

The bike would be worth top dollar with all the original parts it has. He could just resto it for a few grand, more time and work than money, then he'd own an original, highly deireable bike. Rather than a bike with some parts from this and some parts from that.
