Re: Your First Bike.... Images?

My first was a 1964 Yamaha 50cc step through. It went through the entire family. My uncle bought it for $100 and his son used it for a while, then sold it to another cousin for the same $100, then my dad bought it for me for $100. We got the short end of the stick because by the time I got it it had been through 2 other 12 yr old kids and seen better days. After that my dad bought me a new 90cc HT1 yamaha in 1971. I had quite a few of those bikes in your guys pics. The 1975 Yamaha DT250/400 went on closeout in late 76 and the 400 could be bought for $900 brand new, less on the 250, like $800 on it. My dad bought me the 75 DT400 for $900. It was yellow, so maybe that's what plummin had or a repaint? That was a great one, I did 13,000 miles on it in a little over a year, then sold it for $700. Cried to see it go, then got a 77 Yamaha XT500 that was a complete POS, then the 78 KZ650 and have never looked back since. One more thing, a neighbors dad bought him a new 100cc Hodaka, back in about 1971-72 and he thought he was the fastest thing on 2 wheels. He kept bugging me to race so finally I agreed to race him in a straight line race. The Yamaha HT1 beat that Hodaka so bad it was rediculous. I probably had him by about 1/8 mile in a 1/4 mile drag race.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

plummen you are a typical freekin drag racer.i can just see you in a nursing home racing wheel chairs, walkers or bed pans but only in a straight line cause you might break a hip in the corners. i know because i'll be doing the same thing up here. and grabbing nurses butt's at the same time.
