Motorcyclist Retro (was: Motorcyclist Classic) Magazine
10 Jan 2008 07:15 - 04 May 2008 05:01
Looking forward to getting my first issue coming out in April. This mag looks like it is going to cover not only the bikes of the 60'-80's but the culture and the players of the time. This ought to rekindle the glory days.

No subscriptions being accepted yet, but if it sells well they will be available later.
It's talked about in the latest issue of Motorcyclist magazine.
I just looked but I can't find my copy right now, GPzInfested may have taken it home with him.
Found a post by Mitch Boehm (Editor at Motorcyclist Magazine) in another forum that talks about it.

Quote from a post in the thread linked above:
Now, this is important...
For this whole thing to work, and for the magazine to survive, it'll need fairly brisk newsstand sales. There won't be any subscriptions available until early '09 (if we even make it that far), so it'll be all newsstand. Which means, the more like-minded folks who know about MC Classic and when its first issue hits (late april, early may at better bookstores only), the better.
And that's where all of you come in. If you like the direction I've laid out, and want the thing to be around more than an issue or two, I need you folks to spread the word, by word-of-mouth, on any other forums you're on, at rallies and meets and rides, wherever it makes sense. Our parent company is a bit shaky on the concept, esp after Motor Trend Classic went belly up last year. It lost a lot of money, and they won't do it again.

Sorry it's taken me so long to register here... Been busy trying to spread the word to as many internet groups as possible, along with planning the first issue (out in April on better newsstands everywhere) and doing my Motorcyclist work.
Thanks for the initial enthusiasm. It really helps get me jazzed about the direction we're taking - '70s, primarily, with some late-'60s and early to mid '80s included. And mostly Japanese.
As I said, issue #1 will be available in April, and no subs will be available until '09. Here's the deal, though. Our parent company is sketchy on this title, mostly because Motor Trend Classic died an ugly and expensive death last year. They feel the same thing will happen to Classic, but I'm trying my damndest to keep that from happening, and I need your help.
Please, if you'd like this title to continue and flourish, and become a bi-monthly next year, don't just get out there and buy the thing when it comes out. Tell everyone you know to buy it.
Sorry to be a salesman, but I believe we're gonna do some killer stuff (and a lot of Kawasaki stuff!), and I want this magazine to do well initially. If it doesn't, our parent company will kill it. So talk it up if you can.
Please feel free to ping me if you have input or comments.
Thanks much!
Mitch

I'll give it a try...that's all I can promise...it is up against some steep competition... I take Motorcycle Classics, Cycle World (doing a lot of retro/classic stuff lately), and VJMC mag, and any of the Brit mags (when I encounter them in B&N)
