Bloody amazing what you find under all the dirt, grease, and general crap. Rim actually looks pretty good and in good Kiwi build thread tradition it's off to the powder coaters for a lovely coat of gloss black!

The 750 sold for 3k and went to Auckland. Doesn't seem right does it? 1500 bucks for a non runner then I struggled to sell it for 3 grand.

Because I like to go arse about face and start at the wrong end of a bike build I always like to have the paintwork done early in the build. I find it motivates me to get the rest of the bike sorted if I can sit the tank and other parts on a frame and get excited about what it will look like finished. I have never yet built a bike without finishing the paintwork pretty early in the project. Odd I know but it works for me!
I have a mate that is very very good at painting and we used the Havasu Blue mentioned earlier. Tony (my mate (mate in antipodean speak being friend not someone you want to have children with)) did all the body work and paint and it looks wicked! All the pinstripes were painted on. We used 3mm tape to mark out our stripes and the original is a little thinner (2.5ish) but hey I like the fatter stripes.
The body work painted out in the base blue........
and then the masking out process. My claim to fame was matching the blue stripe colour. All we had to go from was photos from the net and books so came out pretty smart.

If anyone is wondering where the small tank has gone........it's getting a little work done to sort out some rust damage underneath. It will be painted up and will be the tank I use but I thought since I had the big one I might as well have it ready to go too! Today we gave all the bodywork a polish!!
