I just joined this site this morning so forgive me if I make mistakes. It seemed like fate that the first post I read is a guy building a Z1R . I just posted a load of parts on Ebay for a Z1R . I brought the bike and my intention was to build a Eddie lawson bike , yep I know its the wrong year. I have some more parts but im not ready to part with them yet until I get the parts I need ie Tank and instruments . I am also a big fan of Graham crosby my favorite poster was "graham crosby scrubbing of speed at daytona " . I took apart the engine on my basket case last night and its not good . The sump held about 2 quarts of the most disgusting oil and what looked like all the tensioner rubber ground up like coffee grounds . Let me know if there is something you need . my Z1R is a 1980 so only a few parts are the same

I know the poster you mean! I always wonder how far Graham Crosby would have gone if he hadn't quit so early in his career. What spare Z1R parts do you have availablie as I am still looking for lots of bits.

In my never ending quest for parts to build the Z1R with I did a swap with a guy I met for some of my old GPZ engine parts for a set of VM28 carbs and some motor parts. I drove a couple of hours away to his place to pick up the parts and this is what he had parked in his lounge!! Wow! MkII with turbo, GPZ1100 A2 head, and other endless bits done to it. Funny what you find by the tv in some peoples houses.
and a bit of an anti climax after the last two but now I finally had some carbs!

Remember that slight twist in the rear subframe that I mentioned earlier. Sorted that out with the highly technical big steel bar tool. Straight now!
