In my solvent supply I have Toluene, Methyl-Ethyl-Ketene, Acetone, Butyl Alcohol, Butyl-Acetate, Benzene, and Metylene Chloride.

I would counsel KZR members to do their homework before using, storing, or disposing of any of these chemicals. They all have serious health risks. All can be handled and used safely, but only with proper info and precautions.

I would consider it as common sense to read a MSDS before handling any kind of chemical. These are to be had anywhere on the internet. I buy my chemicals directly from Sunnyside and use their web sight for all of my information. My strongest advice is, “If you don’t know what you are doing, don’t do it, or ask how before you screw it up”

I have com up against an interesting conflict. Wiseco makes a kit for this engine only up to an 1166, yet MTC claims that you can go as large as a 1327. Now I do know that even with re-sleeving that the sleeves would be paper thin in this configuration, but I was thinking that I could go to a 1261. This would leave an additional .040" in the sleeve wall thickness. Apparently the J series cylinder block has enough meet in it to be able to be re-sleeved to this size. I definitely want to stay with the stock cylinder block for the cooling, and If I leave enough Iron in the sleeve my heat transfer should be still good. I can go with the Wiseco 1261 kit and the 13.5:1 compression, due to the fact that the kit is designed for the older engine with the longer rods and also I am using the newer 84 head. This would drop the compression back down to about 10.5:1 or there about. Any opinion on this idea?

APE Jay says U want to have .100” wall thickness left after boreing. .040” is way too thin. I have a 1327cc kit and the bore measures 3.148”. I have .125” wall thickness left in my MTC big block.
Is the j block the same as the gpz1100 block just a dif bore?

Check hear.

and
www.aperaceparts.com/tech/techkz1000.html

it’s a little confusing since they don’t say j hear? Just gpz? Makes me wonder if the j and gpz blocks are dif. ? u could phone them and find out.

You dont have a CSR, someone switched the badges on your bike. Only the LTD's have alloy rims

No ,it is a CSR. It had wire wheels when I started. Those rims I put on the bike. The first picture I posted was after the fact. I have already done quite a bit of work on the bike at that point. Notice the GS1100 swing arm on the picture. It is a "M" model frame. This by the way will give me grate advantege when I insure the bike.

Ok so it’s a CSR. That means it’s a KZ , right?

from:
www.z-power.co.uk/merchantmanager/view_information.php?pId=34

1981 KZ1000M1 (CSR) (LIKE K-MODEL BUT WITH SPOKE WHEELS)
FRAME NUMBER: JKZKZCM18BA000001~ ENGINE NUMBER: KZTOOJE-000001~
COLOURS: EBONY

So u should be able to resleave the same as my KZ900, 1135cc.
I used KA629 sleeves and u can bore up to 1200cc.
just make sure u have .100" wall thickness left ,to avoid warpage.

From ape site :

1105cc 2.874"
73MM 10.25:1 K1105-1 Wiesco* KZ1000, cylinder boring only $507.77

1200cc 2.992"
76MM 13.5:1 P1200 W* KA629 sleeves required
$576.77

Or
1260cc 3.071"
78MM 13.5:1 P1260 W• KA750 sleeves required.
$576.77

1327cc 3.150"
80MM 13.5:1 P1325 W* Sleeves not included in pistojn kit.APE Big Block Cylinder Required.
$576.77

1395cc 3.228"
82MM 13.5:1 P1385 W* Sleeves not included in piston kit. APE Big Block Cylinder Required.
$607.42

1428cc 3.268"
83MM 13.5:1 P1425 W APE Big Block Cylinder Required.
$607.42

If u get up to 1200cc u will need to be aware of your temp. if u go bigger the temp is of greater concern.
I am going to install a temp gauge, and learn what it likes and then I should be ok. Obviously traffic will be a problem for a big cc, daily rider. But not where, or how I ride.

Here is the link from MTC. for the 78mm bore .
They claim that only a resleeve of the stock bore is required. not untill the 80mm bore do they require a big block.

Sorry about the accusation earlier, at least I know my bikes. Are you keeping the 16 inch rear tire or are you gonna ditch that too? I would like to see what it would look like with that tire on before you change it. I am so totally jealous of your bike. How often do you look away from it?

if i hear u right u want to use a gpz cyl block right?are u sure u can use a gpz block on your CSR(kz block)?

FROM APE :
Cylinder blocks.. Not interchangeable. If you have a J model block/GPZ1100 block you must use a J model or GPZ1100 cases.

What APE is telling you is that you can't use
the J/1100 block on the 1015 motors :)

J and GPz1100 blocks do interchange.
