1980 Z1 Classic chrome tank panel

I know this is obscure, but I'm trying to find out what kind of adhesive was used to attach the chrome panels to the tank. Unfortunately the tank had a small hole rusted thru right at the front edge of the chrome panel.
I got the panel off ok and repaired the hole, but later, after some body work and paint, I'll need to glue the panel back on. The original seemed pretty strong.
