Catastrophic hide failure. It was quick. There was no pain....In rememberence, it did live to be 30 years old.

But the rest of the bike is OK. Slowly but surely it comes back to life.

Stitch it up with some very obvious lacing. I know I'm damn proud of my stitches. Under the bright lights I'm very Frankenstienish. When I was 20 I had at least 10 good sets of stitches. Not clumsy just crazy! :woohoo:

Sandy! I bought that house because I knew the green carpeting would provide a nice contrast to the red paint on the bike when I started to put it together. It makes it stand out. I tried to take a picture of my wife standing over the bike shaking her fist at me in a typical show of displeasure that the bike is there. She ran. Doctor "wireman" your seat transplant services would truly be appreciated. Ambergris, great idea on the scar/stitching thing. I was just having a conversation with my son last week, on his banged up Yosh' pipes for his new bike. I said, think of them as a streetfighter scar (we bought it that way). He didn't buy it. Now I'm facing the same question. No way!

Mine's got a scar on the grab rail where the PO laid it down in the 70s (year, not mph).
I decided to leave it... reminds me that bad things can happen.

Skip, I've been waiting to see your bike with the tank & side panel attached.... looks killer! Now I can't wait to see her in the sun!
Can you just find an upholsterer to recover your seat?

SWEET !!!! The bike not the seat;)
A understanding wife to say the VERY least. Mine gets upset when I even come into HER house with dirt on me.
You and ltdrider have two great looking bikes!!!!;)
Makes me want mine ( 76 900 LTD ) back all the more:(
Keep us posted!
