Hello everyone,

I'm looking to get some new mirrors for my 1982 kawasaki kz 750 ltd m1.....can anyone tell me what size of mirror to buy from jc whitney? I don't really trust them, when they say "fits 1965-2000 kawasaki models"

Thanks!

Chris

OEM part #56001 for your M1 according to partsfish on www.thriftyrider.com Looks like the short stem round type mirrors either black or chrome?
JC Whitney is probably not lying about their date range...I think the bolt/thread size of Kaw mirrors has been 10mm nearly forever...someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

If Whitney scares you...these show up on eBay all the time and Dennis Kirk has OEM replacements too. :)

I believe mirrors are 10mm for all the Jap bikes, but I think it's Yamaha that puts left and right thread on their mirrors. So buy any 10mm mirror except Yamaha and your good to go.

they say it "fits" 64'- 00' models not that its an exact replacement.
10mm has been the mirror mount for along time and if you cant trust j.c. whitney who can you trust???

my dad and i rebuilt a 65' chevy caprice with about 80% whitney parts. not one problem. they stand behind their tranactions and parts 100%

The main thing you'll likely find with JC Whitney and all the other aftermarket mirrors is they are not convex, meaning you look in your mirror, everything is HUGE and you'll only see stuff whithin about a 10 ft distance behind you and off to either side.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

I recently put on a set from a new Honda, bought all the stuff, adaptors, mirrors and boots for around 75.00, they seem to have a better vision quailty mirror than the after market.

As long as it doesn't say it's for a Yamaha and there is a stud on it then it will fit. Yamis use one righthand and one lefthand threaded setup on their bikes. Never ran into a non-10mm mirror setup on any bike from Japan.

Metals better than plastic (some of the chrome ones are really plastic) but they all blur-out at times from vibration. I only count on them for letting me know there is something there not what the something is!

A quick glance back is what I count on more than the mirrors.
